Note: If the shuttle lands on the boundary lines, it is considered in;
A “let” (replay of the point) shall be called in the following situations:
– Both server and receiver commit faults simultaneously;
– The shuttle gets stuck on the net and does not fall to either side;

After making a move that checks the opponent’s king, the player must clearly say “check’’;
The player making the move must also press the chess clock with the same hand used to move the piece;
The referee will not keep a record of the moves during the game. The referee’s decision is final.
The game will end if one these happens:
Checkmate: If one side gives a check (puts the King in check) and the opponent has no legal move to escape, the the side delivering the check wins;
Stalemate: The game draws if a position arises where neither competitor can check the opponent’s King with any legal move. The game ends immediately if the move led to the stalemate is legal;
A competitor wins if the opponent voluntarily resigns. The game ends immediately;
If no captures or Pawn moves have been made in the last 50 moves, the game is a draw;
Repetition Violation: If one side repeatedly checks or chases (cò cưa) the opponent three times or more, that player loses;
If a player delivers a checkmate but fails to press the clock before their time runs out, they lose by timeout;
Timeout: If a player runs out of time before the game ends, that player loses;
Players must make at least 10 moves within the first 15 minutes. Failure to do so results in a loss.
Note: In a drawn game, the player with more time remaining on the clock is declared the winner and proceeds to the next round. A player in a checkmate position or with no legal move left cannot propose a draw.
During the match, each competitor must stop their own clock after completing their move and start the opponent’s clock;
Competitors are allowed to press the clock immediately after making a move. The time from completing the move on the board to pressing the clock is considered part of the player’s own time;
Competitor must press the clock with the same hand used to move the piece. Resting a finger or hand near or on the clock is not allowed;
Competitors can only adjust pieces while their own clock is running;

If an incorrect initial setup of the pieces is discovered during the game, the game will be canceled and restarted from the beginning;
If the board is found to be incorrectly placed during the match, the game continues, but the current position must be transferred to a correctly positioned board;
If a competitor displaces one or more pieces, they must correct the positions during their own time. If needed, the player or their opponent may stop the clock and request referee intervention
If an illegal move is discovered during play, the game must revert to the position just before the illegal move. If this position cannot be restored, play resumes from the closest known legal position prior to the violation;
Pressing the clock without making a move is considered an infraction and is penalized as an illegal move;
For a player’s first illegal move (technical violation as defined in Rule 4.4.4), the referee will add 2 minutes to the opponent’s remaining time.

– Scoring system per game: Win (01 point Draw (0.5 point), Loss (0 point);
– After each round, pairings are determined based on competitors’ current scores (competitors with the same score are paired together).
Note: In the case of a tie in total points between two or more competitors, the competitor with the higher Buchholz score (sum of the final scores of all opponents faced in the Swiss rounds) will be ranked higher. If Buchholz scores are equal, the competitor with more total wins will be ranked higher. If the number of wins is also equal, the competitor with more wins while playing as Black will be ranked higher.
Color selection (White or Black) is decided by one player guessing the color of the pawn hidden in the referee’s hand;
Any player arriving more than 15 minutes late after the check-in time will be disqualified;
After 3 rounds, the top 4 players with the highest total points will advance to the semi-finals.
Competitors will be paired based on equal scores from the elimination round and compete in a knockout format;

Checkmate: If a competitor is in check and has no legal move to escape, the competitor loses the game.
Stalemate:The game is a draw if the position reaches a state where neither player can check the opponent’s King with any legal move. The game ends immediately, provided there is a legal move that leads to this drawn position;
Resignation: A competitor wins when the opponent resigns. The game ends immediately;
If no capture or Pawn move occurs within 50 consecutive moves, the game ends in a draw;
Repetition rule: If one side repeats a chase or check 3 times or more, the game ends in a draw;
If a competitor delivers a checkmate but fails to press the clock before time runs out, that competitor loses due to timeout;
Timeout: If a player’s time runs out before the game concludes, that player loses;
Within the first 10 minutes, a player must make at least 10 moves. Failure to do so results in a loss.
Note (applies only in semi final/final round): If a draw occurs, the competitor with more remaining time on the clock will be declared the winner and proceed to the next round. A competitor in checkmate or with no legal moves left is not allowed to propose a draw.
During the match, each competitor must stop their clock after completing a move and start the opponent’s clock;
Competitors are allowed to stop their clock right after completing the move. The time between placing the move on the board and pressing the clock is counted as the player’s own time;
A competitor must press the clock using the same hand used to move the piece. Resting fingers or hands on the clock is not allowed;
Competitors can only adjust piếc while their own clock is running;
If a competitor is unable to use the clock, they can invite an assistant to assist with the agreement of the referee;
The white side’s clock is started at the beginning of the game;
If the game needs to be paused, the referee has to stop the clock. The referee will decide when play resumes;
Competitors can only stop the clock to request referee assistance, such as in case of pawn promotion when a replacement piece is not available.
If an unexpected situation occurs, the pieces must be returned to their previous positions, and the referee will use their best judgment to determine any clock adjustments;
If an incorrect initial setup of the pieces is discovered during the match, the game will be canceled and restarted;
If the board is found to be incorrectly oriented, the match will continue, but the current position must be transferred to a correctly placed board;
If a player displaces one or more pieces, they must correct them during their own time. If necessary, the competitor or their opponent may pause the clock and request referee intervention;
If an illegal move is discovered after it has been completed, the position must be restored to just before that move. If this is not possible, the game continues from the closest known legal position;
Pressing the clock without making a move is considered a violation and is penalized like an illegal move;
If a Pawn is moved to the farthest rank and the player presses the clock without promoting it to a new piece, the move is considered illegal. The pawn must be replaced with a Queen of the same color;

Men’s/Women’s Singles – 8-Ball Pool
All matches will be conducted in a single-elimination format. The match bracket will be randomly assigned by the Organizing Committee (OC).
From Qualifiers to Semi-finals: Best of 3 (race to 2)
Finals and 3rd Place Match: Best of 5 (race to 3)
Maximum match duration (from Qualifiers to Semi-finals): 20 minutes per match
The current rules of the Vietnam Sports Committee will apply, along with the following amendments/supplements:
The player who pockets all of their designated object balls and then legally pockets the 8-ball wins the game.
If time runs out during the second game (from Qualifiers to Semi-finals) or the fourth game (Finals or 3rd place match), and no player has cleared their object balls and 8-ball, the player with the higher score wins.
If time runs out during the third game (from Qualifiers to Semi-finals) or the fifth game (Finals or 3rd place match), and no winner is determined, the two players will proceed to a penalty shootout to decide who advances.
Penalty Shootout Rules
– The cue ball is placed within the intersection of the 2 long rail marks and 1 short rail mark. The 10-ball is placed at the rack spot (triangle center). If the cue ball is placed on the left, the 10-ball must be pocketed into the right pocket, and vice versa.
– Each player has 4 turns, alternating. Whoever scores more wins. If tied after 4 turns, the cue ball is moved one spot back on the long rail, and a sudden death format continues until a winner is determined.
– The player who wins the lag break has the right to shoot first and choose the cue ball position. Notes:
No cross-side (bank symmetry) rule applies
Players have 30 seconds to aim and pocket the 10-ball correctly.
– A penalty shot is considered a foul if:
Cue ball jumps off the table;
Cue ball is pocketed;
The 10-ball is not pocketed into the correct side.
During regular play:
– Players have 1 minute maximum per shot. Time starts when their turn begins and ends when the cue contacts the cue ball (excluding cue ball placement time).
– If a player fails to shoot within 1 minute, they lose their turn. The opponent may place the cue ball anywhere on the table.
If the opponent commits a foul, the player may place the cue ball anywhere on the table for the next shot, using their hand or cue stick.
Touching any ball in play (cue or object ball) with body, clothes, chalk, rest stick, cue butt, etc., is a foul – unless it’s the tip of the cue during a legal shot.
Hitting the cue ball before all balls have come to a complete stop from the previous shot (including spinning) is a foul.
If a player shoots without at least one foot on the ground, it’s a foul
Any object ball pocketed during a foul is not returned to the table.
If any object ball jumps off the table, it is a foul and not returned. If the 8-ball jumps off, the player loses the game (except on the break).
The 8-ball must be pocketed into the hole declared in advance by the player. Pocketing it into the wrong pocket results in loss of game.
3.4. Break Shot
Players draw lots to determine who breaks first. In subsequent games, players alternate breaks.
Legal Shot
– To perform a legal break, the player must place the cue ball behind the head string and either pocket an object ball or cause at least 4 object balls to hit the rails. Failure to meet either condition is considered a foul. If a foul occurs, the incoming player may choose to: Continue from the current position, or request a re-rack to perform a new break shot, or require the opponent to break again;
– If any object ball is pocketed in a legal break shot, the shooter will continue their turn. The table remains open, and the object ball group has not yet been assigned;
Situations that may occur during the break shot:
– Cue ball is pocketed during the break:
If the cue ball is pocketed during the break shot, it is considered a foul. All object balls pocketed remain down except for the 8-ball. The table remains open, and the player loses their turn. The incoming player has cue ball-in-hand for the next shot;
– Object ball jumps off the table during the break:
If any object ball jumps off the table during the break, it is a foul. Those balls are not returned to the table, and the player loses their turn. The incoming player may choose to: Accept the table as is, or request to move the cue ball behind the head string;
– 8-ball is pocketed during the break:
If the 8-ball is pocketed illegally during the break, the incoming player may choose to: request a re-rack and break again, or have the 8-ball spotted at the designated location and continue with cue ball-in-hand behind the head string.
The table is considered open when the object ball groups have not yet been determined. While the table is open, the cue ball may contact any object ball legally;
The choice of stripes or solids is not determined during the break shot, even if balls from one or both groups are pocketed.
Ball group assignment is only determined after a legal shot pocketing an object ball following the break shot.
The choice of stripes or solids is not determined during the break shot, even if balls from one or both groups are pocketed.
For all shots (except the break shot and shots made while the table is open), the player must hit their own object ball first;
In addition, either the cue ball or the object ball must contact a rail, or the object ball must be pocketed.
The 15 object balls must be arranged in a triangle with the 8-ball placed at the center. The two types of object balls (stripes and solids) must alternate. If one type is placed at the front of the triangle, the other must be placed at the bottom corners, and vice versa.
A player will lose the game if they commit any of the following fouls:
Commit a foul while shooting the 8-ball (except during the break);
Cause the 8-ball to jump off the table at any time;
Pocket the 8-ball in a pocket other than the one declared in advance;
Pocket the 8-ball when it is not the legal object ball;
Pocket the 8-ball and cue ball in the same shot;
Note: Any of the above violations must be detected before the next shot is made. If a shot has been played afterward, the foul is considered void.
The Organizing Committee will provide pool cues and gloves for the players. However, players are free to use their own equipment if preferred;
Players must dress appropriately, in attire suitable for a school environment;
Players are not allowed to use stimulants (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, etc.) in or around the competition area. If discovered, the Organizing Committee will impose a penalty by deducting the deposit fee.
